Thring’s Law of Love is specifically directed at knights:
Let not men of gentle birth cling to the skirts of their mothers like women and peasants, but let them become knights errant and seek glory in the halls of strangers so that they may win noble brides and prepare themselves to stand as guardians over the lands of their ladies. Sons are knighted and sent off to make a name for themselves. Knights of Thring have unusual mounts.
- The elite entourage of the Duke of Thring, the Brothers of the Lion, is made up of knights who have bested a lion in unarmed combat and claimed it as their mount. Those who lose must roam with the lion prides.
- Sister Nadela is the most famous woman to have won a lion mount. There are only a handful of Sisters of the Lion. Presumably that means that women may become knights, though rarely do.
- Sir Huw is a knight of Thring, exiled because he lost the fight with a lion
- The knights of Thring chisel pieces of stone from the graves of Sir Waine and Tycel (15.19), a knight and squire of Thring, respectively
- Sir Thaenor is a Thringish knight whose grave marks the border between Thring and Gore (11.16). It is a popular place for knights to fight duels, stage meetings or to simply wander about spoiling for a fight.
- Gatherer-of-Bones is constructed from the bones of knights of Thring and their steeds
- Knights of Thring have several times managed to behead the Tarrasque
- Three generations of knights of Thring have attempted to slay the Witch Queen
- Sir Mimslet is a brutish knight of Thring. The daughter of Ser Gareth Lemarr is his squire, in disguise.
- Sir Goribald, the last Champion of Thring, was eaten by a giant crocodile. His squire, Jocelyn, still hopes to kill the crocodile. Several knights have tried and failed.
- The lizardfolk of Smuggler’s Isle (17.16) are cooking the Duke’s slain knights for dinner.
- The knights of the Duke, separate to the Brothers of the Lion, are the Chain Gang. Each wears a link of the chain that the current Duke allegedly bludgeoned the previous duke to death with.
- The Sparrow Knight is an unusual knight.
- The Lady of Karandur (13.17) is supposedly descended from a knight of Thring and a bear.
- Broderick was a wild knight.
